Do you burn wood on your stove at home? Please take your time to read the following short article it could well save you £1000’s

Does the door glass on your stove tar or black up frequently? If the answer is yes, you may have a problem with the logs you are burning (not seasoned or too wet) or the way you are operating your stove (running it too cold or typically slumbering it overnight). It may be a problem with the install itself, if not fitted by a professional: but these are the main reasons we find.

You know how hard it is to remove these stubborn deposits from your glass, often requiring repeated applications of a chemical spray to remove or even an abrasive pad to shift it. Unfortunately the problem you have is far greater in the liner itself, and you cannot scrape the liner to get it clean. In the worst case this build-up of tar can lead to the need to actually replace the whole liner.

The photo shows the inside of the liner of someone that knew no different and had been slumbering with wet wood on the stove for only one winter. The liner is almost completely blocked, unable to remove the tar and will require an expensive replacement liner.

*Operate your  stove using a flue thermometer and do not slumber burn

*Burn logs less than 20% moisture, use a moisture meter. Better still buy kiln dried logs

*Get your liner swept every year, ideally straight after the burning season
